Šibenik
& Krka.
Krka waterfalls inland, the Kornati archipelago offshore, two UNESCO sites in one week. Šibenik is quieter than Split — and that is the point.

A yacht charter from Šibenik gives you the rare Central-Dalmatia week that puts the Krka waterfalls inside day-sail range alongside the Kornati archipelago and Telašćica nature park. Three charter bases serve the region: Marina Mandalina (D-Marin) in the Šibenik channel, Marina Frapa in Rogoznica (10 NM south, biggest fleet on this coast), and Marina Kremik (the calmer alternative). Split airport is 60 minutes by taxi from all three; Zadar airport is 75.
The week here reads slower than Split — less marina nightlife, more solitary konoba moorings, and a UNESCO old town (Šibenik) that does not appear on the standard charter route. For experienced sailors, the surrounding Murter / Pirovac / Vodice cluster is the most rewarding micro-region in central Croatia.
Where to base — Mandalina, Frapa or Kremik
Marina Mandalina (D-Marin) sits inside the protected Šibenik channel — walking distance to the old town, full provisioning on site, and a 25-minute taxi from the airport in Zadar. The channel entry past the St Nicholas fortress is one of the prettiest charter arrivals in the Adriatic.
Marina Frapa Rogoznica is the largest fleet — 600+ berths, every major charter operator, supermarket and restaurants on site. 35 minutes from Split airport by taxi. Marina Kremik (Primošten) is the third option — quieter than Frapa, equally close to the Kornati entry. All three feed straight into the same week.
The week — Kornati, Telašćica and Krka
Saturday — board after 17:00 in Mandalina / Frapa / Kremik, dinner in Šibenik old town or Rogoznica. Sunday — short hop into the Kornati national park, anchor or mooring buoy at Lavsa, Žakan or Levrnaka. Monday — Telašćica nature park on Dugi Otok (the salt lake, Mir, and the 200 m cliffs). Tuesday — Sali (Dugi Otok) for the konoba night. Wednesday — Murter or Pirovac for the town night. Thursday — Krka national park (Skradin marina, walk or tender to the cascades; transit pass €40 / yacht). Friday — Primošten or Rogoznica for the last night. Saturday — return base by 09:00.
For 10-day weeks, push further out — Vis (90 NM round-trip) or down to Korčula (110 NM round-trip). Both work but eat 1.5 days of sailing each way.
Best months to charter from Šibenik
June and September are the sweet spot — sea 22–25 °C, settled Maestral winds 10–18 knots, smaller crowds at the Murter / Pirovac konoba moorings. July and August are reliable but Marina Frapa fills early on Saturdays and the Kornati park caps daily visitors. Pre-buy the park ticket through our office.
Bora is the main weather story — northerly katabatic wind 25–45 knots that runs west across the Kornati. Bora events last 24–48 hours; flexible weeks pay off. We radio every morning so you know whether to push out to the islands or stay inside the channel for the day.
What's included with a Šibenik yacht charter
Same base inclusions as Split (yacht, sails, dinghy, electronics, linens, first-day cleaning). Kornati park fee separate (~€60 / yacht / day inside the protected zone, pre-bookable through our office; recommended in peak season — park caps daily visitors). Krka national park transit pass €40 / yacht for the day, separate.
Optional add-ons: hired skipper (€220 / day, recommended for first-time Kornati / Krka crews — the unmarked reefs and the Krka river transit need local pilotage), hostess (€180 / day), provisioning. We arrange supermarket delivery to Mandalina, Frapa or Kremik so the boat is loaded Saturday afternoon.
Šibenik evenings — UNESCO old town + konoba culture
Šibenik old town is the underrated charter stop. The Cathedral of St James is a UNESCO World Heritage site (the only church in Europe built entirely of stone with no binding mortar). The lower town pedestrian streets are walkable in 90 minutes; the four fortresses above (St Michael, Barone, St John, St Nicholas) all open in the evening for sunset visits and concerts.
For dinner, ask the marina for the konoba moorings around Murter — Konoba Dišpet, Konoba Žut, Konoba Vrulje — all serve fresh fish on long communal tables. Pair with Babić (the Šibenik red, indigenous to this coast). The Murter pršut + Pag cheese plate is a quiet evening in itself.
Šibenik & Krka — questions answered.
How much does a yacht charter in Šibenik Croatia cost?
For a 4-cabin Bavaria 46 sailing yacht in shoulder season: €3,500–€5,100 per week bareboat. Peak season (15 July – 20 August): €6,100–€8,600. A 4-cabin Lagoon 42 catamaran: €6,700–€9,700 shoulder, €11,400–€14,800 peak. Šibenik typically prices ~5 % below Split — same fleet, slightly smaller demand. Kornati park fees (~€60/yacht/day) and Krka pass (€40/yacht) separate.
Can I combine Šibenik with Krka waterfalls and Kornati in one week?
Yes — it is the headline week from this base. Skradin (Krka entry) is 12 NM north, Kornati south entry is 18 NM offshore. A 7-day route typically does Kornati (3 nights) + Telašćica (1 night) + Krka (1 night) + Murter (1 night) + return. Krka transit pass (€40/yacht) and Kornati park pass (~€60/day inside zone) are paid separately; we file both with your charter.
Which marina is the best base for a Šibenik charter?
Marina Mandalina (D-Marin) for the city-night arrival — walking distance to UNESCO old town, restaurants and supermarket on site. Marina Frapa Rogoznica for the largest charter fleet and easiest Kornati exit. Marina Kremik (Primošten) for the calmer turn-around and the small-town evening before the briefing. All three feed into the same week.
Do I need a skipper for a Šibenik / Kornati charter?
Bareboat is possible with a recognised licence (ICC, RYA Day Skipper) + VHF + recent open-water experience. For first-time crews on this coast we strongly recommend a hired skipper (€220/day) — the Kornati unmarked reefs and the Krka river transit (regulated, narrow channel) both benefit from local pilotage. Self-driven crews who have sailed the Kornati before handle the route comfortably.
Is the Šibenik route family-friendly with kids?
Yes — the Murter / Pirovac / Vodice cluster has the shortest hops in central Croatia (most under 1 hour), sheltered swimming bays, and a slower pace than Hvar / Vis. Krka waterfalls are a walkable family day (no swimming inside the park since 2022, but the cascade boardwalk is stroller-friendly). For families with under-5s we recommend a fully crewed booking so parents are off duty during sail legs.
When is the best month to charter from Šibenik?
June for warm water (22–24 °C), settled Maestral, light crowds at Murter konoba moorings. September for the warmest sea (~25 °C), quietest harbours, and the most reliable Bora-free week. July and August are reliable but Marina Frapa fills early on Saturdays — book by January for prime peak weeks. Avoid mid-October — autumn Bora cycle begins.
